About

As your hosts, we love our native Northumberland ..... and with good reason!

The Northumbrian coastline is absolutely stunning with glorious sandy beaches stretching for miles. There are numerous pretty villages to discover as well as a number of significant historical sites and magnificent castles to explore.

The quaint village of Bamburgh is a 'jewel in the crown' of Northumberland. On the coastline and nestled under a spectacular castle, this small village was ranked by WHICH as ''Britain's best coastal destination' in a poll of almost 3,000 holidaymakers taken in July 2021. From the battlements of Bamburgh Castle it is possible to see for miles. The breathtaking views include The Farne Islands and historical Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island. Further north lies the Scottish border and looking westwards it is possible to see The Cheviots, a distant range of rolling hills straddling the Anglo-Scottish border. These hills provide the spectacular backdrop to miles of virtually deserted Northumbrian countryside.

The Grey Goose is perfectly situated within the heart of peaceful Bamburgh Village. It is an excellent base for visiting all of the local attractions and, with it's own off street parking, it is just a short stroll to the local beach, pubs and restaurants.

For those keen to take in city life during their holiday, Newcastle upon Tyne is approximatley 50 miles south of Bamburgh. An article published in The Guardian newspaper highlighted the arts, food and music scenes in Newcastle. You can read this article here

Crossing the Scottish border, Edinburgh is approximately 75 miles north of Bamburgh. It too is a bustling and vibrant place to visit. Steeped in history and famous for it's annual international arts festival held for three weeks every August, there is no shortage of things to do in Edinburgh.

Both cities can be reached by car, bus or rail (from Alnmouth or Berwick)
